Meet the team...
At PR Homes Direct, our success is driven by the father-and-daughter team, Gary and Francesca. With complementary expertise, they bring a balanced approach to property development by overseeing projects from cradle to grave—handling land sourcing, in-house construction, and project exits. This hands-on approach keeps the business financially sound and aligned with industry regulations. Together, their combined strengths in land acquisition, exit strategies, and technical delivery have enabled PR Homes Direct to deliver exceptional homes while upholding its strong reputation.
Early Beginnings
Founded in 2001, PR Homes Direct takes its name from Peter Ross Winslow, who led the development of Broadbridge Mill in Bosham—a landmark project comprising 48 properties, including houses and flats, all thoughtfully designed around a central lake area.
During this time, Gary Winslow joined the company as a site agent, overseeing construction quality, maintaining building standards, and managing budgets. This pivotal project laid the foundation for PR Homes Direct’s commitment to excellence, shaping its reputation as a trusted name in property development.
Expansion to Eastbourne
Building on their early success, the father-and-son team expanded into Eastbourne with a vision to develop luxury flats near a mainline station. They identified a site comprising 24 garages and successfully secured planning permission to construct 9 flats with balconies. Despite operating during a challenging economic climate in the recession, they demonstrated their resilience and expertise by completing the project and selling all units, further solidifying their reputation for delivering quality developments in demanding market conditions.
Mixed Developments in Lancing
As the property market began to recover, PR Homes Direct recognised the growing demand for mixed-use developments, including starter homes and affordable flats. Seizing the opportunity, they acquired two prime sites on Penhill Road in Lancing and swiftly delivered high-quality developments designed to meet market needs. The first site comprised 10 flats and 5 houses, while the second featured 6 flats and 2 houses, further demonstrating their versatility and ability to adapt to changing market demands.
The ECO Revolution
By 2009, sustainability and eco-friendly construction emerged as key trends in the industry. While Gary and Peter acknowledged that ECO builds came with higher costs and primarily appealed to a niche market, they also recognised the importance of adopting sustainable practices to secure the company’s long-term growth. To position PR Homes Direct at the forefront of this movement, they partnered with leading architects in Sussex, enhancing their industry profile and laying the groundwork for a more sustainable approach to development.
The Eastbourne ECO Project
PR Homes Direct brought its sustainability vision to life with the development of 5 innovative ECO houses on a former garage site in Eastbourne. Designed to make a bold architectural statement, these homes featured curved roofs covered with grass sedum, blending sustainability with striking visual appeal. The development incorporated a PV water heating system and water recycling technology, achieving ultra-low running costs of just £300 per year.
In collaboration with Eastbourne Council and architects Liam Russell, this groundbreaking project gained widespread recognition. It was nominated for Britain’s Best Architecture in 2013, shortlisted for the RIBA East Regional Awards in 2013 and 2014, and longlisted for the World Architecture News Awards in 2012—solidifying its status as a pioneering eco-friendly development.
A Family Legacy
PR Homes Direct continues its tradition as a third-generation family business, with Gary now working alongside his daughter, Francesca. Together, they have delivered luxurious and modern terraced houses in Hove and Brighton, showcasing the company’s dedication to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship.
Collaborations and Continuity
The company remains committed to its trusted network of architects, now based in Brighton, ensuring continuity in creative design and project delivery. PR Homes Direct also prides itself on long-standing relationships with its subcontractors, including bricklayers, groundworkers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and decorators. These partnerships, built over more than a decade, are a testament to mutual trust, consistent quality, and professional recognition—earning praise from both the company and building inspectors alike.
